The Audiophile Workshop carries two brands of speaker cables and wires with spades, bananas, clamps and other accessories.
Rolls of speaker wire can be ordered from Oyaide (30m) and from Atlas (50m). Please note that shipping and tax costs are expensive so make sure that you are going to utilise most of the wire or cable roll.
We are able to deliver to most areas in Brisbane at no charge, however all other transport costs are met by the client for all other areas.
TUNAMI cable, one of the most famous products of OYAIDE, has been giving a huge impact to the scene as a power cable. Taking over its power and performance, our flagship speaker cable, TUNAMI NIGO, has gotten a lot of fans by its powerful and wide-range sound in superior silent background.
However, since TUNAMI NIGO has been sold as bulk cable, many customers’ demands for terminated speaker cable have been growing.
Finally in the end of 2009, equipped with our new terminals, SPSL and SRBN, which were tuned up for TUNAMI NIGO, we achieved to produce TUNAMI II series in order to maximize its potential.
PCOCC-A
PCOCC copper is a material that includes very few impurities and insures very low levels of signal disturbance. Because of its low incidence of grain boundaries, the signal passes without impediment or distortion. Heating and cooling the PCOCC wire under controlled circumstances yields a densely re-crystallized, highly pure structure called a μ conductor. The resulting product with a mirror finish applied is called PCOCC-A copper. This highly advanced product is made possible by the combined application of high technology and traditional Japanese craftsmanship.
After the deep analysis for insulator, we selected polymer polyolefin that has different degree of hardness at interior and exterior to prevent negative effect by sympathetic vibration. Moreover, this material has a quarter of permittivity compared to common PVC and we paid careful attention to strengthen the cohesiveness of its insulator and conductor in order to infill random space and maintain a high-quality signal transmission.
Triple-layered shielding
We have advocated the importance of noise protection which becomes a defining feature of power cable. Although we accomplished certain results by applying star-quad shielding structure to L/i 50 series, considering customer demands and trends, we pursued producing updated product with a state-of-art technology. For TUNAMI NIGO, we developed triple-layered shielding structure.
The first layer of this structure converts electromagnetic wave into thermal energy by interfusing electromagnetic insulator. As the second layer, semiconductor layer (carbon) is employed for its characteristic that discharges static electricity without affecting its conductor. A copper foil shielding is set as the third layer to protect the conductor from external noise. Furthermore, drain wires, closely-situated to copper foil shield, make S/N ratio higher by connecting to earth ground.
Feature & Sound
The color of its outer sheath is ceramic white which was selected with consideration of interior matching. Its 5.5sq cross-section area of the conductor has excellent vibration damping property and stable signal transmission. TUNAMI NIGO could be used as not only a speaker cable but a power cable.
Original fine OFC Litz wire (0.12mm dia.), made into a bundle of 399 strands (7x57) as a core. Being in Litz structure, eliminate disturbed electro-magnetic formation and strain distortion between conductors but advantageous with skin effect to minimize loss of high frequency response.Original Cotton thread winding; for overwhelming resonance suppression factor and extremely low electrostatic capacitance, electromagnetic induction factor, and dielectric constant factor. Plastic compounds are superior for mass productivity but not perfect for those crucial terms for undisturbed signal transport.Terminated with spades to match 6 and 8 mm posts.Spade are highly polished 2mm thick solid OFC, applied with extra thick Silver-base-plating and Palladium plating to finish. Connection to cable is by Lead-free solder with non-chloride flux.

The structure is PCOCC-A Multi-Stranding-Structure to make balanced flexibility with density by seven ideal distributions. Furthermore, each conductor is twisted in a reverse direction, and suppresses the mixture of external noises to a minimum. A decision was to mount an insulator of developed C.I.S structure. The C.I.S structure dissipitates macro vibrations, hence the structure makes a noticable improvement of a vibrational behaviour within its electric characteristic.The exterior adopts a Halogen-free sheath for exclusive use of an audio system developed newly by Furukawa Electric.

Well made and finished, the Ascent is an exciting listen. The sound is punchy and driving, with a well defined bottom end underpinning the rest of the frequency range.
The Atlas Ascent audiophile cables arrive in two sizes: These contain 2 sq mm or 3.50 sq mm of the finest stranded Ohno Continuous Cast, non deleting copper within a PTFE dielectric. Use the 2.0 where bass is not a prerequsite or the 3.50 if increased bass is desired. The Ascent cables follow on the Atlas tradition and design philosophy. They offer a holographic image with depth, height and width. They are transparent and an ambience that perhaps was never heard before is given to the listener with the Ascent cables. They offer a silent background, high resolution of low level detail and sibilant free, smear free treble. An AWG equivalence table is provided below.
